This book is created to show the classification of fonts while exploring the typographic expression utilized in the narrative text from TED talk, 3 Ways Good Design Makes You Happy by Don Norman. The key concept of Norman’s talk is that there are three levels of designs, which appeal to the audiences’ conscious and unconscious mind differently. The concept expressed throughout this book is executed by placing layers of transparent squares in the narratives, as well as transparent sheets used on each specimen’s introduction page. The font used for call outs in the narrative section is Didot small caps because it’s beautiful lines please reader’s eyes, and the body font Frutigar Light weight was chosen as the best match for Didot.
While my book was on exhibit in the gallery for the SDSU Art Institute Scholorship Award, its author, Don Norman, reached out to me and purchased the book.
